Free Resources for Learning Mandarin Chinese

Welcome to Chinese Scholar's Free Chinese Class website. This site provides free tutorials and other interactive media for learning Mandarin Chinese. There are several options on the site that allows for a diverse and fun learning experience.

Learn Chinese by Tutorials
Chinese Scholar provides interactive tutorials to teach common Chinese phrases. The 3D and 2D animations in English and Chinese demonstrates the use of Mandarin phrases. Sometimes there are areas at the bottom that gives detailed explanation of the phrases that are being taught in the lesson.

Learn Chinese by Games
The purpose of the games is to provide a fun way for the users to learn Chinese. Matching games involving the Chinese language are available to help people learn Chinese. By matching the Chinese characters to the pictures that they stand for, one will be able to learn and review the Chinese characters and have fun at the same time. Chinese Scholar also provides other type of interactive games to enhance the users' learning experience. One of Chinese Scholar's main goals is to make learning the Chinese language an entertaining and enriching experience.

Learn Chinese by Literature
The site contains a collection of Chinese literature from various time periods that had been translated into English. This section includes classical Chinese classics, Chinese poetry, and Chinese philosophy. The purpose of this section is to give readers a broad category of Chinese literature to read and enjoy.

The Chinese poetry section contains an extensive collection of works from ancient China. Poetry is a celebrated aspect of Chinese culture. In China's history, poets are considered to be at the top of ancient China's academic hierarchy. Chinese poetry is purposefully written for the enjoyment of the ordinary people and, along with Song Dynasty prose, consists of an important part of the Chinese oral tradition.

Learn Chinese by Songs
Learn Mandarin by listening to Chinese songs. Music is one of the most effective ways for many people to learn a foreign language, especially a tonal-based language like Mandarin. There are a variety of Chinese songs on this site that are drawn from different periods of Chinese history.
